It's coming...again

Winter after winter I always say if it's going to be cold and windy, it might as well snow.
After all, snow can only come a few months out of the year.
This week it's cold and windy...and it not only did it snow on Saturday...it's going to snow again. Look what's coming my way:
And in case your not familiar with me..I pretty much live in that purple dot.

:) this is a happy girl :)

Dear Winter

Dear Winter,

I think it's safe to say that you and I have a love-hate relationship. I love that you make spring and summer seem so incredibly amazing. I mean really..without you warm spring sun and cool breezes just wouldn't be the same. I also love the snow that you bring.

BUT (and you had to see this coming) why do your winds have to blow so strong and so stinking cold. really. I don't need my hands to go numb after being outside for 2 minutes. You know I have 2 dogs that like to play when we take them outside instead of going to the bathroom. If your going to be cold...then SNOW! Make these dreary gray months worth it. After all they are the ONLY time you have a potential to make it snow.

Now if we can make a deal. Please keep the blistery cold winds away or at least at a slight breeze, trade in any and all rain for snow (as NO ONE...I repeat NO ONE likes when its 30°F and raining) and I promise I won't be as sad to see you go.

Love,
Yours Truly

Christmas Lights

I must admit that this year, I am saddened there are only a few strings of lights on the house. However for you to fully understand what I mean I think it's important to tell you we probably have at least 50 strands of lights that have been used before to decorate our house for Christmas. For example, here is what was NOT used this year. Normally I would expect these 3 boxes of lights to be strung all around the inside and outside of the house. [fyi-they are big boxes] ...maybe next year. Yesterday, while out with the pups (playing in the snow) I decided to take a little video to add some Christmas spirit to my blog...AND to let you all have a sneak peak at our (Greg's) Christmas Light Show. Enjoy! [make sure to have your speakers on!]

Snowy Puppy Patrol

If you didn't already know (all 4 of you readers out there) we have 2 labradoodles. You also might just be asking...what on earth is a labradoodle?? Well, it is a cross between a labrador retriever and a poodle. Yes we have 2, yes we must be crazy, and YES we love having them both. Although the one is bigger than we were expecting...they are both about 55lbs...they are tons of fun. Greg and I have finally worked out an AWESOME 'puppy patrol' or 'puppy duty' schedule as we so lovingly call it-also known as taking the dogs out. Anyway, it took enough times of disagreeing about who's turn it is to determine that it is best if every day we take a 'double turn'. Meaning that out of the 3 times the pups go out (morning, afternoon, evening) if it's your day, you do 2 shifts. I HATE going out too late at night, so it's nice when I know it's my turn I don't have to wait until 10 or 11 to take them. Anyway, today was my 'double day' and I did the morning shift and the late-afternoon shift. One would think that it should be easier and faster to take both dogs outside to go to the bathroom at the same time. However it is not usually the case. Take a look at the video below. Since it was snowing today-which to me makes the cold weather worth it-I thought I would give them extra time in the snow TOGETHER. This is what they do...
I guess it's a good thing they are the same size...otherwise, one just might get eaten. hahah blog, signature P.S. Check back tomorrow (if I can wait that long) for a Linsky production---a video clip of our Christmas lights display.

The First Snowfall

The first snow is always anticipated and welcomed with open arms. Most likely because we haven't seen it or enjoyed it for since the end of last winter (February/March). But I can truly and honestly say that I haven't seen a snowfall as beautiful as this for a very long time. First of all I have to mention that Berks County, PA usually gets nothing compared to what they are forecasting so when they forecast 1-3 inches, we tend to get zero-nada snow. But yesterday to my surprise it started. Early in the storm it switch back and forth between a rainy snow and a heavy snow. We don't normally get heavy, wet (snowball snow) unless the rain comes after to dissolve it all away.

I was so excited to have THE MOST BEAUTIFUL drive to church this morning. Glad the hubs was driving so I could simply savor the splendor that we were driving through. The trees and woods that lined the roads all had branches coated with white while the sun began to glisten through branches and simply sparkle off the snowflakes and ice. The snow on the ground, was untouched by humans (maybe just a straw animal print here or there). It was so absolutely perfect. If it hadn't been a Sunday and I wouldn't have been on my way to church I would have had about 500 pictures to share with you. But instead, you are left with just some of what I got yesterday while it was snowing.
 Our view from atop

Beautiful, just beautiful.

What better winter combination could there be than Christmas lights and snow?

The house decorations thus far...hopefully soon Greg (and I since his back is still injured from Thanksgiving) will be back out there to be the brightest house on the block.

Stay tuned for more Christmas lights to come. Happy Winter Wonderland everyone!

Ohh the weather outside is frightful...

It's getting to be that time of year in PA: winter and general coldness. So with the dropping of temperatures lately, here are the things I dislike about winter...

  1. Frost of my car in the morning (it takes longer to leave and as if I am already not cold enough I have to stand there and scrape my car)
  2. Getting out of a warm bed when the surrounding air is quite chilly.
  3. Cold bathrooms--This seems to be inevitable wherever I go. The bathroom is always coldest and of course that is where you need to get take off clothes to shower. (maybe someday I will have radiant floor heating...aaahhhhhh)
  4. Wind chill---need I say more. When it is bearable outside, the wind comes in and literally goes through every piece of clothing you are wearing. When it's really cold, it stings your face.
  5. Finding that a lot of my socks have holes in them. which leads to #6
  6. Constantly cold feet, nose, and fingers
But I have to give this winter guy some props because I do actually enjoy winter--at least some of the time.
  1. The first snow--or at least the first day it snows when everything is white (before the yucky plows and cars make it dirty)
  2. Cuddling up under blankets
  3. Drinking hot chocolate
I would write more but I'm cold and need to but on another layer---or wrap up in a blanket. hehe :)

AAAANNNND I REALLY hope it snows this weekend. That would be FABULOUS!
